I had so much fun being back on stage, doing what I love most...DANCING! Thank you to everyone who supported me, especially my darling Husband and Mother in Law who were always available to watch my kiddos in the evening so I could go to rehearsal. I couldn't have done it without them!

Pagosa Springs, Colorado

For years my Grnadma lived in Pagosa Springs, a rediculously small town in Colorado. I haven't been back there since she moved out to California when I was twelve. We went back for the first time to bury her and my great uncle's ashes along side my Grandpa. It was a trip full of tons of fun memories that I will never forget.

U of U Final Four 50th Anniversary

Sean's Father, Melbourne, was honored last Saturday at the University of Utah basketball game. Fifty years ago, Mel and his team took the University of Utah all the way to the final four! It was so fun to see Mel so happy when everyone applauded him and his efforts. They awarded each of the players a framed jersey with a plaque that said their name and the year they achieved this honor, 1960-1961. We all felt so privileged to be there to offer our support to a man that has been a huge example to our family. We love you Melbourne T!

Recently I have been following the work of a photographer in New York. He takes amazing shots of ballet dancers in and around the city. Since my cute hubby is quite the photographer, I asked him if we could try something similar. We went up the canyon to Log Haven, the Capitol Building and the Cathedral of the Madeline. After only a few hours, some major goose bumps (it was freezing!) and only a few weird looks from on-lookers, we ended up with some pretty nice shots...or at least we think so! Landon had a little friend, Ellie, that lived right across the way from us in Quarry Bend. Since then Landon has considered Ellie his "best friend" and nearly every night before bed we have to tell Landon a story that inevitably involves Ellie is some way. These pictures depict only one of their little play dates. They were taking turns putting the Mr. Potato Head pieces on each other. Of course I couldn't miss a picture opportunity and snapped a few quick shots.

Hogal Zoo

On a lazy Saturday afternoon we decided to run up to the zoo and spend a few hours. Brooklyn was amazed by all the animals. Nearly every one got a very enthusiastic wave from our little Brookie. Landon was probably more into all the people there. As usual he would strike up a conversation with just about anyone within listening range. Our favorite exhibit was probably the elephants. There was a little baby that had more fun kicking around a big metal trash can than playing with the toys intended for this use (Sound like your kids, or is it just mine?).

San Fran

Sean went down to San Fransisco for the Google convention with some co-workers. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to get away and so I flew down after the conference was over for a few days of exploration and fun. We literally crammed in everything...Golden Gate, Ghirardelli Square, a segway tour, Alcatraz, Lombard Street, the redwoods, the Oakland temple...the list goes on and on. I enjoyed getting to know the people he works with more and of course all of us wives got along great. In short we had a wonderful time filled with memories of the few and far between, ever coveted, vacations without kids! (Click on the pics for more!)

Dino Land

Brooklyn had a doctor appointment the other day and our friend Laurel was sweet enough to take Landon along with her to the dinosaur museum. Landon loves their daughter Kate and loves dinosaurs, so I figured he would have a great time. Sure enough, he couldn't stop talking about it for the next 24 hours. I guess we will have to make another trip out there soon! Thanks Laurel, you are a life saver!!

Landon approached me today and asked flat out, "Mommy, buy iphone?" I was quite surprised and repeated what I thought he had said just to make sure I got it right. After he assured me my ears were not playing tricks on me, I proceeded to ask Sean if he taught him to say that. "Nope", came his simple reply, followed by a chuckle.

I guess in short, the moral of this story is...marketing works...even on 2 year olds!

The Easter bunny came and went. He brought Landon a "Itsy Bitsy Spider" book (which I think we have read a hundred times already) amongst other edible goodies. Since it snowed this year, we did the Easter egg hunt inside at Grammy's. At first Landon just had fun finding the eggs and putting them in his basket. Then one popped open as he picked it up and when he realized there was candy inside, it was a whole different ballgame! We had a blast watching him.

Last Thursday I was at my mother-in-laws with Landon and Brooklyn. We were packing up the kids in the car so we could leave when a neighbor walked up. We chatted for a bit since Brooklyn was happy in the car and Landon sat in the front seat and "drove" the car.

All of a sudden I hear the car lock. I whip around and start to freak out, but then Helen points out that we left the back door open. PHEW! We continue to talk when I glance over and see Landon pick up a wrapper. I suddenly realize that I had eaten a pack of peanut butter crackers on the way here and I thought there was one left. Since Landon is allergic to peanuts, naturally I run to the front door and try to open it, but remember it was locked. I fly around the car and in my haste to reach the front passenger door, I slammed the back door shut.

Oh...my...gosh. Did I really just do that?? What an idiot! Luckily there weren't any crackers left so there was so immediate danger. And Brooklyn was happy as a clam which was a major bonus. The neighbor ran to her house and grabbed a big tub of jelly beans, while Helen and I tried to get Landon to unlock the door. When we offered him the candy he scrambled over the seats and plopped himself in his car seat. Any other time I would have busted up laughing. He was trying to be so good to get the candies. It really only took a few minutes to get him to unlock the door, thank goodness.

I can't believe how lucky we were. You always hear of horror stories where kids get locked in the car for hours and they are crying and undoubtedly the mom is crying too. I learned my lesson though...don't put your bag in the car until you are ready to go (unless you have a bunch of jelly beans handy)!

Pure Inspiration

I found a blog that touched me so profoundly that I felt I must share it others. It is about a woman who lost a child. A sweet 8 week old little boy named Gavin. I was brought to tears as I read her story. I was amazed at her strength and faith in the Lord. I can't imagine going through something as heart breaking as losing a child. I think I would be angry. Just angry. How could you go on? When that sweet spirit could not move with you? I am inspired, by her poetry like writing, to be better. To cherish the important things in life. To kiss more often and hug a little longer.To thank our Heavenly Father everyday for the many good things with which I have been blessed. I hope you are as inspired by her story as I was. Thank you Natalie, for allowing us to enter your heart, and hope and grieve with you.

Big Boy Bed

We gave up the crib and moved Landon to a twin. He loved it and actually slept through the night as well as a nap.

Of course this new bed merited some jumping. He just kept saying "So Excited!".

Doctor said that I was far-sided, which generally means good vision, but viewing things up close was like running a marathon without shoes. The glasses are supposed to be the shoes. Funny enough there is still a lot of debate about how it might actually be better for you to run a marathon barefoot.

We recently went to San Diego to visit my family. We had a great time, despite the rain. We were planning on going to Seaworld on Tuesday, but of course the weather had other ideas. We packed up the car on Thursday to head home and when we got on the freeway Sean turns to me and says, "Let's go to Seaworld". I thought he was joking and decided I would call his bluff and said, "Sure, why not". Well, needless to say, he wasn't joking. So, we heading home by way of Seaworld. The park was totally empty because of the weather and we left just as it started to rain. It was perfect!

The new year has arrived, complete with new year resolutions, noise makers and sparkling apple cider. We spent it over at Sean's parents house with the Shoemakers.

Poor Landon fell into the bath tub while reaching for the bar of soap. Although it was sad...it was also quite funny. And of course we made him stand in the water while we snapped a couple pictures. We are terrible parents!

Since Brooklyn was only a month old this Christmas, we decided we weren't brave enough to make the 12 hour trip to San Diego and stayed in Utah this year for a white Christmas. Santa brought Landon a train table. He loved it. He was quite amazed that the cookies he left out for Santa the night before were gone in the morning!

The young Yergensen kiddos also put on a Christmas play for us. It was so much fun to watch each child's personality really come to life!

Thanksgiving in Vegas

We have missed Drew, Jenny and Kaden so much since they moved to Texas. So when we heard that they would be in Vegas for Thanksgiving we loaded up the car and hit the road. Landon had so much fun playing with cousin Kaden and Brooklyn was good as gold on her first trip outside of Utah.

So, I know some of you are aware that we took Landon in for an allergy scratch test. I thought you all would be interested in the results. So it turns out that he is allergic to peanuts, eggs, dogs and cats. I guess it is a good thing that we got rid of our cat, Jack, although it is still sad. We won't know how bad the food allergies are until we go in for some blood work...joy! It is sad now because Landon is old enough to realize what the doctor's office is and that he DOESN'T like it one bit. The minute we walked into the allergist's office he started crying, so the blood work should be REAL fun. Anyways, but it is nice to know what was bugging him and what foods to be careful of at least!

If you know me, then you know that I LOVE garage sales. You never know what you might find. Even though I think it drives Sean up the wall, he agreed to stop at one when I saw a sign off the side of the road. We ended up buying this little bounce house that fits perfectly on our back balcony. Landon had has a blast in it. He literally bounces off the walls!

Tanna and Colby's Baptism

Our neice and nephew are very close in age and they were able to be baptized on the same day. It was very special to have all the family there. Sean made an amazing slideshow about the two of them. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room after that. Thank you to the Shoemaker and Yergensen families for letting us be a part of this special occasion. And congrats Tanna and Colby!

The Wasatch Back

The entire Yergensen family decided late last year that they were going to sign up for the Wasatch Back marathon as a team. The Ragnar relay is a wild 170 miles long and it goes from Logan to Park City. The twelve members of the team run three shifts each. Each leg is about 6-8 miles long each. Sean did an awesome job! He averaged around 10:50 per mile, even on the killer uphill portions. We are so proud of him for accomplishing his goal!

It's No Fun To Be Sick

It all started Sunday evening when I couldn't get Landon to eat ANYTHING. Even his favorite maple and brown sugar oatmeal was refused. That night Landon woke up three times. I usually wait to see if he will put himself back to sleep, which he did each time. In the morning I awoke to find that he had thrown up three times in the night. I felt awful. I had no idea. He was so tired he must have slept in it because it was caked on everywhere.

He continued to throw up anything I gave him that day, including water and Pedialyte. By the evening he was completely lethargic and not responding to us at all. We decided to take him in to Primary Children's Hospital in case he needed an IV. Sure enough, after spending about 2 hours in the waiting room they told us he needed an IV. After getting his blood work back they decided to keep him overnight. Needless to say, it was quite a long night.

By next afternoon, Landon was able to keep down a few ounces of Gatorade and a cracker which apparently qualified us to go home. I was overjoyed until I got home and found that the vomiting continued. I took him to see his pediatrician the next day and she said that he should not have been released and that we needed to go back. Not wanting to put the poor little guy through the trauma again I asked if we could hammer the fluids for a few hours and see if he could keep it down. She reluctantly agreed.

Of course by the time we got home Landon was back to refusing everything we offered. We even took him to the store so he could pick out his own drink. He was actually really excited at first, but of course refused it in the end. So back we went. After another IV we were convinced that he would be fine through the night and opted out of another hospital stay. We dragged ourselves home around 3:00am, utterly exhausted. After a final trip to the pediatrician's office this morning to follow up on Landon's progress, we are satisfied that he is starting to turn the corner. We still have to push the fluids, but he is eating a few solid foods and is getting the color back in his cheeks. PHEW!

Birthday Wishes

So I turned 23 yesterday...horray! I had a wonderful day. I kind of guessed what my gift from Sean was. He got me the last band for my ring. It looks fabulous and I LOVE it! But Sean can be pretty sneaky. He told me that we were going to dinner and then to the ballet. So being a ballerina, that was perfect in my mind. We decided to go to dinner at The Bambara which is right across the street from Capitol Theater. As we approached the door of the restaurant, he asked if it was ok if we didn't go to the ballet. I was a little confused but said yes of course. He then pointed to the marquee and said, because the ballet is over. I turned my head to look at the theater and saw the big WICKED sign. I was so excited I think I actually hit him (sorry babe). I couldn't believe it. It was impossible to get tickets...how?...when?...OH MY GOSH! It turns out that we were sitting right next to Tineka and Tim, which made the night even better. The show was amazing. I couldn't understand why people would go see the show multiple times when the tickets were so expensive. Now I know. I would go see it again tonight if I could get my hands on some tickets! Thank you for a wonderful birthday Sean. I love you!

Have You Heard?

So a lot of people know already, but just in case you don't....I am pregnant again! It was a little bit of a surprise, but we are very happy. I am only about 8 weeks along. My official due date is November 27th, but my doctor said he would induce me a few days early so I will have room to eat Thanksgiving dinner. I love Hutch! Landon and the new baby will be almost exactly 2 years apart so it is perfect timing!

San Diego Zoo

We went down to California for the baptism of my youngest sister, Allie. While there we thought we would take advantage of the beautiful sunny weather. Landon had his first experience with the beach. He wasn't too sure about it at first, but he loved chasing the birds in the sand. We also went to the zoo with Grandma and Aunt Julie. Landon loved all the animals and he imitated all the sounds he could. The Monkey and the birds were his favorites, and surprisingly he could care less about the petting zoo. Go figure!

A Night At Home

The other night Sean and I spent quite awhile filming everything that Landon did. We came up with some cute videos.

Video #1: Landon has just recently figured out how to give kisses with his mouth closed, but the sound effect is my favorite.

Video #2: Landon started tensing his whole body up when we say the word "crazy". I have no idea how or where this started, but it is pretty funny.

The New Year: 2009

This year we had some friends come over to our house for some food and games. One of the games we played I learned from my sister-in-law Tineka. Basically, you have to bend down and pick up a cereal box (the big ones from Costco work best) with your mouth. Only your feet can touch the floor. Each round you cut a piece of the box off until it is literally flat on the ground. It is pretty amusing watching your friends trying to get that box and there are always one or two that really surprise you at how flexible they are. And of course when Landon saw what we were doing, he tried to copy us. It was fun to watch...you should try it. Happy New Year everybody!

Landon turned one on December 15th. I can't believe it has been a year! We had a little party for him with mostly family and a few friends. We all had a good time. Landon didn't really understand the whole present thing. After opening the first one he didn't care about the rest. He was content with what he had. He absolutely loved the cake though. Of course we got a cake with a ball on it so it was a big hit. We realized that Landon has quite a sweet tooth. Ever since he tasted that cake, all he wants is sweets!

We finally broke down and gave Landon his first hair cut. We didn't cut a ton off this first time because I figured we could always cut more off later. Landon was very cooperative. We gave him a candy cane and he was a happy camper. Grammy showed me how to do it because I was totally freaked out to do ANY cutting, but once I tried it I think I caught on pretty quick. I think, for having a moving target, it didn't turn out too bad.

On Tuesday, we went to Robert's (the craft store) to buy a Christmas tree. While there, Landon became sick and puked all over Sean and all over the floor. We were so startled at first, we didn't quite know what to do. It didn't really faze Landon. In Sean's shock he put him down and he promptly started to play in his own mess, which only made matters worse. I quickly went to tell a store employee about our predicament. Upon returning, I found Landon's clothes in a pile on the floor, but the boys were nowhere to be found. Eventually, a woman came to tell me that I had to clean it up (which I didn't mind), and that they didn't have a mop. Grrrrreat! When I went to the bathroom to get some paper towels, I found Sean with his shirt off and Landon down to his diaper, playing with water in the bathroom sink. The look on Sean's face was priceless. After cleaning up the puke we realized that it was a cold winter night, and neither Sean or Landon had anything to wear out to the car. Luckily we were right next to a grocery store. I ran over there and tried to find a cheap shirt or something for Sean but I couldn't find anything. Eventually I decided to buy a couple of blankets. I thought it was a great idea, but I didn't realize that the blanket wouldn't fully cover Sean. Needless to say that I am sure we were a sight to behold (and smell) as we marched (most of us half clothed) out of the store.

We actually ended up buying a tree from Robert's, but I made Sean go to another store because I was too embarrassed to go back to the same one. So given that, I was even more embarrassed when a woman approached me at our ward Christmas party a few days later and asked if I remembered her. I said I didn't and apologized if I should have. She chuckled and said she was the lady that was helping us that night at Robert's! When her husband walked up, she introduced me by saying, "Remember the little boy I told you about that threw up in the store the other night? Well, this is his mom!" It was definitely the highlight of my night. I am sure it is the first of many blunders that come with being a parent. I just hope they don't happen that often in public!

Thanksgiving

We were able to go down to California and spend Thanksgiving with my mom this year. It was very nice to have some warmer weather, although it did rain while we were there. Dinner was delicious, and of course watching Grandma spend time with Landon was a highlight. This picture was taken on one of our many outings. This particular night we went to Balboa Park to kill some time with Juliette and Jonny. All in all it was a great trip!

Landon had his first trip to the McDonald's play place on Friday. We couldn't really get him to eat anything because he was too fascinated watching the big kids play. I finally got him down and he wasted no time trying to climb on everything. They had a little baby slide that worked out really well for Landon and Kimbre. I eventually climbed up to the biggest slide with Landon and went down it with him. He had such a great time, he screamed when we told him it was time to go back in the car. Looks like we will be making another trip soon!

The Cow

A few weeks ago we had Sunday dinner at Sean's brothers's house who lives in Lehi. Their backyard neighbor has a cow and the cow apparently loves poeple. Whenever the kids went outside the cow would come trotting over to the fence. Landon was so amazed by this huge animal. He kept pointing and looking around like "does anybody else see what I see?".

For Halloween this year we went to JL and Shelley's house for dinner. They made pumpkin soup and put it in bread bowls that looked like pumpkins and an AMAZING salad...seriously. After hanging out there for a while we went to a party at Maryanne and Ryan's house. It was so much fun to be with all our friends. We ate (some more) and played games. As you can see, Landon was a dinosaur for Halloween. We even taught him how to say "roar".

An Evening At The Park

Landon and I went to the park tonight with my brother Joel and his wife Mary. They have three children: Matthew, Kathryn and Kimbre. Landon absolutely loved the slide. I only had to show him how to go down it once and he immediately figure it out. All I had to do was sit him at the top of the slide and he would scoot forward until he went down. When I took him on the big slide I thought he would be a little scared, but he was laughing all the way down. We had a blast.

Dance Fever

We found a show that is like Barney, but cooler. It is called Hip Hop Harry. It is Landon's new favorite show. In fact it is the only show he will watch. So now all we have to do is mention Hip Hop Harry and Landon gets ready to bust out his dance moves. He loves the music during the show.

We went bowling with our good friends Kelly and Jeff this week. It was a lot of fun! Landon loved watching the bowling ball hit the pins. We couldn't get him to take his eyes off them.

Tracy Aviary

We went to the aviary the other day and had an absolute blast. It was free because of UEA weekend and so we thought we would take advantage. We were surprised by how alert Landon was. When we first walked in, a peacock walked right in front of him and he got so excited. The rest of the day he would point to EVERY bird we saw (which was a lot) and exclaim, "B" (translation: bird!).

Our Third Anniversary

September 24th was our third wedding anniversary. We decided that were weren't going to get anything for each other this year, but of course we each did something small. I decided to make Sean skor cake (his favorite). I was already stressed that day trying to get everything done. I was finishing up Sean's cake when I realized that it was very quiet all of a sudden, and with a 9 month old, that is rare. I turn around to see Landon with one of the cascade 2 in 1 dish detergent packets in his mouth. For those of you who don't know, those things dissolve incredibly quickly when they become wet. So I freak out and grab Landon and try to wash his mouth out. Two seconds later he throws up all over the kitchen. I promptly called poison control and was relieved that the detergent wasn't harmful to him, but it will upset his stomach (yeah, no kidding). So Sean had the privilege of coming home to his wife and son smelling of rancid Mac 'n' Cheese, puke all over the kitchen, the cat eating the puke, and me crying. Eventually we got it all cleaned up though. We dropped Landon off at Grammy's and made it to dinner. We ate at our traditional place, The Roof, which is where we went when Sean proposed. We had a great time at dinner, and the mess before makes for a great story!

Sean celebrated his 31st birthday this month. We went out to dinner a couple days before because Sean had to teach late at ITT Tech the night of his birthday. I decided to decorate his car while he was in class to surprise him. It turned out really well I think. He was very surprised.

Yesterday Juliette, Sean and I went up to Park City to experience the Alpine Slide. For those of you who don't know, there is a new attraction. It is called the Alpine Coaster. It is pretty much the same as the slide but you are attached to a track so you can't fly off. I thought it was way better than the Alpine Slide because you can go so much fatser. We highly recommend trying it. (Special thanks to Tineka and Helena for watching Landon!)

Yerg Update

Landon has discovered finger foods! He is always eyeing EVERYTHING we eat and he feels like such a big boy now that he can eat with us. His latest favorite is saltine crackers, but this picture was taken after I gave him a biscuit to eat. Those things dissolve so fast...they make such a mess!

This darling pic was taken when we were at Robyn and Brian's house. Their little boy, Hayden, was being so cute with Landon. He wanted so badly to give Landon a hug, but Landon didn't like that idea too much.

Landon has never been one to cuddle, but in the past few weeks he has started to a little bit. Every once in a while he will fall asleep while we are holding him. I caught this picture after we had taken Landon swimming. I guess it wore the boys out.

Sean has been using his free time to play a little ball. It is just a church softball league, but we have some pretty athletic guys in our ward and the team is actually pretty good. Sean has a good time playing and Landon and I love to watch and cheer him on.

And of course with Juliette in town we have to do some shopping. We found these fabulous Nichole Richie sunglasses and couldn't pass up a picture opportunity.

A Long Day

So, last night I started having pain in my chest. It was pretty acute at times but I tried to just brush it off. This moring when I woke up it was even worse. I was convinced I was having a heart attack. Sean went to a work party and he wasn't answering his phone. I tried calling tons of people to come watch Landon so I could go to the ER, but I couldn't get a hold of ANYBODY. By this time I was totally freaking out. I could barely breath and my heart was racing (most likely because I was freaking out). Eventually Sean called me back and I asked him to come home. When we got to the ER they ran tons of tests including blood work, EKG and a chest X-ray. We hung out for a couple hours. Landon was completely bored, Sean was starving, and the whole time I was sportin' the attractive hospital gown.

They were concerned that I might have a blood clot in my lung. But it turns out that I have what is called pleurisy. It is caused by a viral infection. It makes the outer lining of the lungs inflamed and it rubs together every time I breath which causes the pain. The doctor compared it to rubbing 2 peices of sandpaper together. Sounds like fun huh? Although painful, it is not serious. They prescribed some pretty strong anti-inflammatory meds and that should take the swelling down and relieve the pain. I am bugged that we went to the emergency room and it turns out there really isn't anything they could do. But at least my mind is set at ease.

Although it was a long day, Landon did bring a smile to all the people that came in our room. A couple nurses gave him a stuffed bear and a lollipop. He LOVED it. We couldn't get it away from him. By the time the lollipop was gone he had about half of it on the front of his shirt. Thank goodness it was yellow and not red!

We just got back from visiting my family in San Diego. We had a really good time. One of my best friends got married and it was nice to be able to be there and support her. And as always, it was great to spend time with the fam. I don't get to see them as often as I would like so it is a real treat when we visit. I loved watching Landon interact with Grandma. This is Jack. Sean's niece Taylee got him as a birthday present and couldn't keep him because her dad is very allergic to cats. They were going to take him to the pound because they couldn't find anyone to take him. So we decided to keep him. He is such a great kitty. Landon can tug and pull on him all he wants and Jack could care less. He likes to cuddle, but has his playful moments too. We are so glad we kept him!

I know we already posted a video of Landon laughing but it wasn't very good quality because we took it with our cell phone, so here is a better one. We just bought him this new toy. It sings the alphabet song and when it stops on a letter it makes the sound of an animal that corresponds with that particular letter. For some reason Landon thought the animal sounds were really funny.

As many of you may know, Sean's brother Drew was accepted to Notre Dame. He, Jenny, and cute little Kaden left last Saturday. We will miss you guys terribly. But we are not saying goodbye, only see you later. Have a great time and good luck. Love you guys.

We just got back from Las Vegas this week. We went down for tristyn's baptism. We are so glad we were able to share in that experience. While we were there we mostly just spent time with family. We don't get to see the Las Vegas Yergs and the "10es" very often so it was lots of fun. Of course we went to Phantom and LOVED it! The entire production was simply amazing.

Jessica's 22nd Birthday

I turned 22 on April 29th. I had so much fun going to dinner with family and friends. In celebration, Sean gave me tickets to Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas. We are so excited!
